Last month I had the pleasure of being back in North Brabant, a southern province of the Netherlands that I’m liking more and more each time I visit. Being a hotel enthusiast, The Duke Hotel in ‘s Hertogenbosch was on my list and now I finally had the chance to spend the night there!
The Duke is a small trendy boutique hotel in the heart of Den Bosch, located on the top floors of a series of buildings in the Kerkstraat. You can hardly see it when you’re passing by and that gives it a sort of hidden gem vibe.
It’s located brilliantly in the city at only a 1 minute walk away from the St. John Cathedral, and a 1 minute walk from the Korte Putstraat on the other side, the street where all the fine restaurants are jam-packed on one location. If you want to go a little further, you can use bikes from the hotel, which I thought was a very nice service. I did a tour to the nearby town of Vught, which will lead you through a very green environment. When you want to exercise but rather not leave the hotel, there’s an independent gym called CityGym in the same building as the hotel, on the second floor. For hotel guests, the gym is free to use!
The Duke Hotel has 17 rooms in total. I had the St. John suite, one of the largest suites at The Duke measuring 42sqm. It’s large enough to feature a seating area in front of the bed, as well as a separate writing desk. Spending time in the St. John suite is really pleasant because of the beautifully designed furniture and high-quality items like an Espresso machine from Illy and a Marshall Bluetooth speaker!
I think the bathroom is one of the best features of the room. Not only the shower is walk-in, the entire bathroom is! No doors, just a few windows on the side. Don’t worry, toilet is separate though 😉 It’s no secret that this suite is mostly used by couples during romantic shortstays in Den Bosch. The design is really beautiful, with the black tiles and golden taps.
Breakfast had everything you need. I only went once but the breakfast room, which is adjacent to the reception desk, was nice and cozy and breakfast consisted mostly of organic ingredients. Nothing more to add other than that it was super yum!
All in all, the amenities and services The Duke is offering, combined with the modern and spacious design made it a very pleasant stay for me. The Duke has everything it needs to give guests a great city hotel experience!
Hi Ben,
Thanks a lot for this wonderful review! Hope to have you as my guest again in the future.
Best wishes,
Mr. Duke
